NADCAP Accreditation

 NADCAP Accreditation: Process & Requirements

NADCAP accreditation is a formal recognition issued by the Performance Review Institute (PRI) confirming that a supplier's special processes meet aerospace industry technical requirements. Accreditation is process-specific, covering operations such as welding, heat treating, chemical processing, and non-destructive testing.

PRI-approved auditors evaluate facility capabilities, equipment calibration, personnel qualifications, and process controls against industry-developed criteria. Accreditation requires periodic surveillance audits, with intervals determined by the specific process and audit performance history. Organizations must demonstrate conformance to applicable technical standards and customer requirements.

Accreditation is process-specific, meaning a supplier may hold NADCAP accreditation for one or more special processes but not others. Maintaining accreditation requires periodic surveillance audits at intervals determined by the specific process and previous audit performance. Many aerospace original equipment manufacturers accept NADCAP accreditation in lieu of conducting their own special process audits.
