NADCAP

NADCAP: Aerospace Special Process Accreditation

NADCAP (National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program) is an accreditation program administered by the Performance Review Institute (PRI) for aerospace and defense industry suppliers. The program focuses on special processes such as heat treating, welding, chemical processing, and non-destructive testing that are critical to aerospace component manufacturing.

NADCAP accreditation requires suppliers to undergo audits against industry-developed criteria and standards. Auditors assess facilities, equipment, personnel qualifications, and process controls specific to each special process. Organizations must demonstrate conformance to technical requirements defined by industry working groups comprising original equipment manufacturers, suppliers, and regulatory representatives.

The program operates globally and is recognized by major aerospace manufacturers. Suppliers pursuing NADCAP accreditation typically hold AS9100 certification as a foundation. Accreditation must be maintained through periodic surveillance audits, with frequencies determined by the specific special process and the organization's audit performance history.
